Privacy Policy

App-specific policy: GUTCalc for iOS does not collect any personally identifiable information whatsoever. Calculations are performed and stored on your local device only. The app contains no provisions for tracking you or what you enter unless you choose to disclose such information via a bug report, review, or other feedback. Nothing is shared with any third parties. Only bulk usage statistics are collected via Apple (standard for all apps).

(Information after this point applies to the GUTCalc website, including this page, but not to the GUTCalc for iOS app itself.)

General website policy: The GUTCalc website (https://gutcalc.com and pages therein), by necessity, collects information such as your IP address and browser characteristics. This information is stored in raw server logs for less than one year; after that point only aggregate statistics are stored. This information is used solely for tracking website usage, monitoring for server intrusion attempts, and detecting website errors. The GUTCalc website does not store your calculations after they are performed, and no information is ever shared with third parties.

Cookie information: The GUTCalc website uses a single long-lived cookie to retain your unit conversion mode preference. A short-lived cookie (session cookie) may be stored to maintain coherent functionality between page views (e.g. to allow a form to be filled out page-by-page, or similar). The GUTCalc website does not request or set cookies from other domains (i.e. does not perform cross-site tracking).

Previous versions: This privacy policy is effective as of August 8, 2020. Previously, no explicit privacy policy was in force. Earlier versions of the GUTCalc website shared tracking information with a third party (Google Analytics) purely for traffic analysis purposes, but that behavior has since been disabled.
